1.1: Multiplication and Division of Integers

To multiply integers

Multiplication is a process of repeated addition.

1.This can be shown on a number line.

2.Move forward if the sign of the other number is +.

3.Move backward if the sign of the other number is -.

-3 x 2 
-:sign
3:other number
2:number to be multiplied

4x2=(2)+(2)+(2)+(2)              4x(-2)=(-2)+(-2)+(-2)+(-2)
   =8                                 =-8
